Minecraft black screen fix (Linux. Windows and Mac untested)

with 4 comments

Thanks to Nicola for the heads up. I haven’t been playing this game for quite some time because I lack the time and/or the creativity in playing such an amazing game (that I sadly did not pay for).

If you have the black screen problem, which I think first surfaced during the 1.0 release, all you have to do to fix it is to update LWJGL that came with the game.

Note: The latest version (2.8.2) did not work for me and Nicola. We got past the black screen and were able to create the world, but we got stuck at the pause menu. I got around that by using the previous release (2.8.1). The latest one might work for you though. Give it a try. If it still does not work, try 2.8.1.

LWJGL:  2.8.1 or 2.8.2. Download lwjgl-2.8.x.zip.

WoT: Epic Defeats Edition.

with 3 comments

Here are a few screenies of some of my previous games for the past 48 hours. Sorry for the images not being pretty. I sort of play the game at the lowest possible graphics settings.

Please notice the scores (:

WoT Matchmaking: I’m out of luck…or am I?

with 4 comments

The game where I could have had 1000+ XP

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case, it’s worth just one: FUCK.

Let me explain it to you.

I was playing a game at Lakeville with a team mainly composed of retards. Despite all that help (seriously, 6 kills and damaging 4 more), we lost. Not your regular loss, but that loss where you all get that thought that there’s nothing you can do about it.

Also, please note that I am not your regular camping tank destroyer (still in the Jagdpanther). I treat mine like a medium, taking into account of course, maneuverability issues. Point is, the screenshot you see above weren’t kill-steals. The number of shots and hits say the same thing. It’s just that I put a lot of effort in that game TO LOSE.

And I thought that was just one game with bad luck.

World of Tanks: Easily the best (and most frustrating) tank-based online game.

with 10 comments

Note: This post suxxx 😦 Can’t even get the linebreaks to properly “register” lol. All I have to say is that it’s a good game. Here’s me bitching about losing a lot –> bitching and bitching

World of Tanks

Just a quick note about the title: When I say “best online game”, I actually mean the only online game I put time and effort on, and when I say frustrating, I mean it tries to fuck with you until the end of time (or until you get a badass tank).

For a little intro, here’s a quote I CTRL+C and CTRL+V’d from onlinegamesforyou.com

World of Tanks is a team-based, free download, massively multiplayer online action game dedicated to armored warfare featuring historically accurate fighting vehicles from the 1930s to the 1950s

Anyway, the first time I heard about this game was when I was browsing Metacritic looking for games to play. I had a look at all games with a rating of 80 and above, and there I’ve met WoT. It immediately passed my “online game test”  even without me playing it. And since I have the best criteria in the whole world when it comes to online games, here it is to share:

AnjoCaido Minecraft launcher on Linux

with 32 comments

NOTE 11/28.11: Black screen fix is here.

First off, I’m not sure whether this is legal or not. The reason why I’m writing about it is that I saw the Linux version of AnjoCaido’s launcher in Arch’s user repository. So yeah, judging from the fact that people on Arch are strict when it comes to those stuff, I assumed this was ok.

What makes this launcher different from the normal launcher is that it allows you to connect to other servers including those over LAN. Plus, you can login without a premium account if the server you’re connecting to has the online-mode option set to false. In fact, you don’t even have to have an account. Also, you’ll get the full single player mode.

Tap Tap Revenge 4 for Android: Rushed (not that I’m complaining)

leave a comment »

So here it is. Finally. Tap Tap Revenge for Android. I’ve always wanted an iPod touch for the sole purpose of playing TTR. If you ask me, it’s a killer app (click for definition). It’s the only application in the Apple App Store that’s worth dying for. I took an Android phone, and not an iPod touch because…you know.

Anyway, I was out of town yesterday to meet with cousins and stuff. At one point I was bored. I checked the Android Market for interesting things. Scrolling through the top free games, I saw Tap Tap Revenge. WTF? Seriously?

It was unbelievalble. I’ve always thought that Tapulous would never release a port for Android. I have already read from multiple message boards about the impossibility, including Tapulous’ forum itself. Some of the devs think it’s not a good idea to port to Android, since there are a lot of devices to consider. Different devices, processors, screen resolutions, the ability to perform multitouch, and the like. They even joked about making a lite version for the less powerful phones.
